P'pines to host meeting on Sabah illegals
Kota Kinabalu: The Republic of the Philippines (RP)-Malaysian Working Group on Migrant Workers will tackle the issue of illegal immigrants in Sabah when it hosts its fifth meeting in Manila in August.
The head of the Philippines Joint Executive Legislative Mission to Malaysia, Datu Nur G. Jaafar, said the issue had been tackled since the group was estabilished in 2005.
"We are here to continue, and enhance our responsibilities as designated by the (Philippines) President as the issue of illegal immigrants is of common interest to both countries.
"This time, the Philippines will be the one hosting the Fifth RP-Malaysian Working Group which will be a one-day meeting in Manila," he said after making a courtesy call on Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
Also present were Philippines Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Esteban Conejos and the Philippines Ambassador to Malaysia, Victoriano M. Lecaros.
